Islands and Sunset Time

There was a clear weather today and I can almost see the mountains of the bay behind the Princess' Islands. But it was cold and later the wind was strong... Brought the rain again.
The sun is going to leave us... This time of day, I love the blue touches of early night... and the first lights seem... But of course all this city lights and poles are so bad I can't take any picture without them. Maybe I should crop them all but the whole image would be lost, I don't want to crop them. As I said above, the weather was so clear and the mountains were seen so clearly, even snow too... The lens what I used was 70-300mm Sigma, this was what I can do. I dream to have another lens too for far distance...

The lights are changing because sun goes down... and I am going on to take its picture. This island is Heybeliada... (one of the Princess' Islands) Behind the island the mountains seem again...
*
The Princess' Islands or in my own language we call just "Adalar"(= Islands),and they are a chain of nine islands off the coast of Istanbul, in the Marmara Sea.
*
They consist of four larger islands,
Büyükada (meaning "Large Island"),
Heybeliada (meaning "Saddlebag Island"),
Burgazada (Antigoni, the name of a mythological figure),
Kınalıada (meaning "Henna Island", meaning "First", being the closest island to Istanbul),
and five much smaller ones, Sedef Adası (meaning "Mother-of-Pearl Island"),
Yassıada (meaning "Flat Island"),
Sivriada (meaning "Sharp Island"),
Kaşık Adası (meaning"Spoon Island", named for its shape),
and Tavşanadası (meaning "Rabbit Island" )
The islands also constitute one of the districts of Istanbul Province.
This is Büyükada (Large Island) and sun still goes down...

A small boat is coming from the island, Büyükada...

Yes, the mountains are not seen now, the sky is closed by the clouds... and the lights are more now, the sun left us.

Colours of the city through my camera's eye

Taking us to the far lands in the cold days of winter... and reminding a lovely winds of summer days!
Seagull is watching down the street!

Between buildings these naked trees really make me to think deeply. I feel them as myself, not happy between buildings, batches of concrete :)

Just passing a nice house window with trees and flowers, under the winter sun!
Another lovely tree but not naked! Full of fruits...

They are talking

They are talking... Trees, even all these naked trees are talking as if in the city... I feel like that when I watch them. This reflection of the trees on a new building was amazing, looking at itself as if... :)
The silhouette of these trees, people and even a cat at the sea side... The Princes islands seem like a ghost at the back.

This tree should be very old, and standing along the street... Seems great. But shouldn't be happy with the traffic, noise, etc. Once upon a time there was a lovely gardens around this tree. This district is one of the oldest and historical one in the city, Bostanci.

Blue skies and these nakes trees they are all like a lace... and spreading into the eternal skies as if... The freedom of them is great. Like a silent symphony!
Actually, everything in nature world like a poetry; I can feel this poetical touches... Hits my soul, and I want to carry them with me, like a book, like a poem... so I just took its picture and put in this invisible world... Sharing for past, present and future... who can know :) what would remain after all these days...

Istanbul Image

Istinye Park, one of shopping malls in the city and checking point for the security!
Going to Istinye park...

The new buildings, they are all together and none of them completes the view of the city! I don't like these higher and new buildings...

Another new building is rising up! Near the hotel, Sheraton! Istanbul image changes...

Still Street Pictures

Reading newspaper... he is selling Turkish Bagel (=Simit) (ring-shaped bread covered with sesame seeds)
This is a cafe at the street... One day I want to visit there because it has so nice and colourful things! Everywhere was covered by colourful tulle...
Ready for 14 February!
The wedding car.... They should have been going to take the bride, because she wasn't in the car. But there was a heavy traffic!
Paintings and reflections hit my eyes...

Life on the streets in my city

Advertisement! For milk... :) They were all hanging on the trees...
In front of Stefanel, walking, thinking...

It was a nice and clear weather after cold and snowy days! People seemed happy walking on the street.

People are in a hurry...

Poetry Through The Poem

"POETRY

When it was I don’t remember but in days
poetry left me slowly;
in search of me. I don't know, I don't know where
it went from me, left a winter or a frozen river."

*
While I was reading Pablo Neruda, one of his poems made me to think and also made me to change some of words as it came from my heart.... The original one is like that,
*
POETRY
*
And it was at that age...Poetry arrived
in search of me. I don't know, I don't know where
it came from, from winter or a river.
I don't know how or when,
no, they were not voices, they were not
words, nor silence,
but from a street I was summoned,
from the branches of night,
abruptly from the others,
among violent fires
or returning alone,
there I was without a face
and it touched me.
I did not know what to say, my mouth
had no way
with names
my eyes were blind,
and something started in my soul,
fever or forgotten wings,
and I made my own way,
deciphering
that fire
and I wrote the first faint line,
faint, without substance, pure
nonsense,
pure wisdom
of someone who knows nothing,
and suddenly I saw
the heavens
unfastened
and open,
planets,
palpitating planations,
shadow perforated,
riddled
with arrows, fire and flowers,
the winding night, the universe.
And I, infinitesimal being,
drunk with the great starry
void,
likeness, image of
mystery,
I felt myself a pure part
of the abyss,
I wheeled with the stars,
my heart broke free on the open sky.

Like a tree of memories :) The blue vase is old one from my mother-in-law, and the paper roses are a gift that my son gave me on Mother's Day while he was a child and he made these paper roses :) and the bracelet from a nice friend, she is academician in Philosophy field and in another city and the dried rose is my love's gift for a special day between us,... so why I call like "a memories vase"...

Blue Touches of Glass

I've almost forgotten my old camera!!!!! There is another SD card.... Yihuuuuuuu! How made me happy! So, I was able to take pictures again... I tried to do something with these old blue glasses. They are all very special gifts from my grandmother, from my mother-in-law. They are antique! Very old pieces... Even this lady figure was broken and I tried to repair it. This was a bowl for sugar or sweets... I tried to take in different colours, but blue hits much more, at least for me :)

Another old piece... Blue glass... I love blue glass obje. It was a gift from my mother-in-law. Should be years for this, very old.

Feeling Blue

In the English language, blue may refer to the feeling of sadness. "He was feeling blue". This is because blue was related to rain, or storms, and in Greek mythology, the god Zeus would make rain when he was sad (crying), and a storm when he was angry. Kyanos was a name used in Ancient Greek to refer to dark blue tile (in English it means blue-green or cyan.

The phrase "feeling blue" is linked also to a custom among many old deepwater sailing ships. If the ship lost the captain or any of the officers during its voyage, she would fly blue flags and have a blue band painted along her entire hull when returning to home port.

Roses are red and violets are blue

"Roses are red and violets are blue"

The Original Version
*
"It was upon a Summers shynie day,
When Titan faire his beams did display,
In a fresh fountaine, farre from all mens view,
She bath'd her brest, the boiling heat t'alley,
She bath'd with roses red, and violets blew,
And all the sweetest flowers, that in the forrest grew. "
*
By Sir Edmond Spencer (1552-1599)
This poem is traced back to year 1590, when Sir Edmond Spencer, an important English poet and Poet Laureate wrote this. He is famous for writing the epic poem 'The Faerie Queene', that celebrates Queen Elizabeth 1st and the House of Tudor, an English royal dynasty that lasted 118 years and began in 1485. The lines that are found in this epic poem are believed to be the origins of the 'Roses are Red' poem.

A Later Love Poem
*
"We will buy very pretty things
A-walking through the faubourghs
violets are blue, roses are red,
Violets are blue, I love my loves."
*
By Victor Hugo (1802-1885)
A French poet and playwright Victor Hugo (1802-1885) published a novel in 1862 named 'Les Misarables'. There are a lot of texts with songs within this famous novel. One is from this 1862 English translation.

Poems For Blue

* * *
Roses red and roses white
Plucked I for my love's delight.
She would none of all my posies--
Bade me gather her blue roses.
* * *
Half the world
I wandered through,
Seeking where such flowers grew.
Half the world unto my quest
Answered me with laugh and jest.
* * *
Home I came at wintertide,
But my silly love had died
Seeking with her latest breath
Roses from the arms of Death.
* * *
It may be beyond the grave
She shall find what she would have.
Mine was but an idle quest--
Roses white and red are best!

Rudyard Kipling

* * *
Blue-Butterfly Day
*
It is blue-butterfly day here in spring,
And with these sky-flakes down in flurry on flurry
There is more unmixed color on the wing
Than flowers will show for days unless they hurry.
*
But these are flowers that fly and all but sing:
And now from having ridden out desire
They lie closed over in the wind and cling
Where wheels have freshly sliced the April mire.
*
Robert Frost

* * *
I thank You God for most this amazing
day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes
*
E.E.Cummings

Just about BLUE

The colour of BLUE....

"It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn't feel like a giant. I felt very, very small." Neil Armstron

*
*
It was morning; through the high window I saw the pure, bright blue of the sky as it hovered cheerfully over the long roofs of the neighboring houses. It too seemed full of joy, as if it had special plans, and had put on its finest clothes for the occasion." Herman Hesse

"There is no blue without yellow and without orange."Vincent Van Gogh

Gracefulness and Wisdom

Today I thought of these "Gracefulness and wisdom" once again... Life without them seems so empty. Actually they are the essence of human world, I think like that.
*
*
"Gracefulness and wisdom
they rarely come together;
but the essence
of beauty shines
through their collaboration."

Uncompleted Project

This is my uncompleted work... Yes, it seems still it has been in the processing. I began this project few years ago and I carried with me to Italy too, but I couldn't finish it. It is about my kitchen project. I want to change the colours of my kitchen (curtains, table clothes, chairs, etc.) They are now all in red plaid colours... So my idea for this new project is to change the colours and new colour is blue... and blue tones... This photograph was taken at the beginning, actually two parts of the curtains have been already finished but there are some parts to be finished.
My kitchen window wall that we both painted together with my son a few years ago during summer. All fruits...

Yes, I hope and wish to finish my new blue project for my kitchen. :)
