No photographs! Last night we walked a little bit after all these boring and worried days... There was a lovely night wind but still the high temperatures hitting your face.... So we couldn't walk more than half an hour... even I wasn't strong enough for a long walking, but it was so beautiful for me, how I missed to be out and to walk down the street... And yes, there wasn't eye problem last night, I hope, not to happen again!!!!

STRESS

Actually, I should say these days psychologically and physically hit me. The weather conditions are not normal in here but I know in so many places of the world there are some strange weather reports. I can't go out because of the high temperatures, but especially because of the high humid air, it is almost % 95 and we feel much more the heat waves... So I am at home, indoors... and yes, with air-conditions... A few weeks ago tiredness, stress and these weather conditions hit me badly and I became sick... It was hard to deal with some medical problems... But yes, they are all being cured by medical helps. Last weekend I was happy that all problems were gone... but then my eyes! Made me (made us) so afraid... Then again, we learned that it was because of stress again... and nothing to be afraid... They checked everything about my eyes but I was so bad, and crying... but now we all know nothing to afraid, but we learned a new sickness too! It was a kind of oftalmic migren that I can see the lights and some prismatic shapes!!!! How made me afraid I can't explain this.

To be inside with air-conditioner or to be inside without air-conditioner... These are both problem and but I don't know how to deal with them... I've never felt myself as a captured one before in these summer days... I opened my windows and I try to breathe the fresh air....!!!!!! but this is something, as if you open the oven and the heat air hits your face....

The Hot Summer Days

We are living very strange summer days here because of the weather conditions; the temperatures are not normal and especially with the highest humidity we feel more than ever. It is said that the humidity is % 95!!!!! and we feel the temperatures between 40-45 santigrat degrees.... By the way, I was sick last week, everything hit me so badly... I was affected physically by this weather and also I was affected psychologically by some of events that made me so sad. Sadness and tiredness hit me together.

Just taking rest now... and sometimes I try to take some pictures from my windows, under the curtains,... in these hot summer days as if I was trapped, this was the picture of this feeling!

In these days, whenever I visit both sides, I notice new construction sites in the city. And it seems that in near future the city's view would change again... Because there are so many new projects and they have been building... But I am not sure about their aesthetic views especially with the connection of the historical and magical city, Istanbul. It was ironically written in one of advertisement of these new rising projects, "Someone comes and changes the world..." Yes, it seems that someone(s) comes and changes the face of the city.

I was taking rest but then, in the silence of my afternoon, there was a big noise!!!! What was going on outside of my home... Yes, there was a big argument between crows Up the trees they were talking very badly... (I am writing a story!) Anyway, when I went to see what was going on there, I noticed that I wasn't alone! Someone under the tree was trying to take rest in her beauty sleep of afternoon!

But these crows didn't let her to sleep....

WOW! It was amazing, she could catch one of them, could she?

But!!!! Who is this at the window, looking at her! Niaaaa! Of, you are again!

This building is a very controversial project. It is considered the worst one in the city by most of the people, but yes, the discussion about this one has been started on some newspapers by some journalists, academicians, artists too. Even there was a big matter once, whether to collapse the building would be better... But yes, at the end, it was a building and standing there... And its name was given by all these people, they call it, "The cage of sky"... as if... because they think that this building disturbing the view of the city.

In my opinion, I should say, I don't like it... Standing really horrible... maybe because of its design too, but along the Bosphorus, these kind of projects should be thought well, shouldn't be disturbed the historical and also the ambience like a fairy tales... The city with all these things is a living one,...

On the other hand, by this oppurtunity, I want to share something too, this taller building is a hotel, yes, but at the roof there is one of famous Turkish architect's house and office, this was amazing... I just imagine myself in there and to watch the view of my city... As you can see in the picture, this architect lives in these flats of the roof... I hope you find it enjoyable,

Everything changes in this universe... Nothing stays without changing. But yes, some changes very slowly and we can't recognize... I am reading some philosophical articles so I am coming from some of deep thoughts to my photography today! By the way I catch cold and still I am dealing with myself, to be at home and to feel weak... is not good. But yes, today I played a little bit with my camera before rain started. Not so good, but these green touches hit me... and yes, the sea changed in hours... It was amazing to see how changes the colours through the light and shadow... It is so nice after dark and rain day to find suddenly blue sea in my window... But yes, the sea is not in calmness and the clouds haven't left us yet... Probably it will be raining tonight again... But when I left my desk and went to the other room, Wow! The blue sea was smiling to me... and I took some pictures, but not good I know, there are so many details and I try to crop them all, and also I made zoom... anyway, these are from my blue sea points This is one of the islands on the picture, and there is a kind of dust on these pictures, they are because of the reflection something, or shadow... I took them behind the glass of the window, because.

It rained all day long but then, suddenly appeared again blue sea and blue sky... But not stayed long! All this week was rainy and cloudy...

It is very hot outside, you can't walk and breathe... Even this humid air makes me bad... I don't like summer days... Spring and autumn are my favurite. Dinner at nostalgic atmosphere

This was one of my places that I wanted to visit in this city. And today we were there at the end. This is a very historical place, but restored and it is one of famous restorant in the city. "Zeyrekhane".... The menu is almost Turkish cuisine. But of course, the nostalgic atmosphere was great, and also decoration, and also the view, from the windows Golden Horn can be seen... I just tried to take some pictures from there, but of course with their permission, otherwise they usually don't let to take pictures there. I hope you find them enjoyable. There is a heavy weather today, like a leaden sky. Everything is so touching this morning…. And I don’t like June, but innoncent all these months, even summer!

We collect so many things in our minds with words and imaginaries and most of them how crowded and how painful… Happiness actually, always flies away, like volatile… Every happiness leaves a sorrow behind its while it was being past! Everything flows and runs, and not comes back… What kind of deception this is, we try to solace ourselves. I know, I am too pessimist today. But I told you, it is because of this June! I said good-bye to all my friends, who I believed that they were my friends. I am tired, so tired and so broken too in this language. Between "must" and "should" and also between "to thank" and "silence" there were so clear messages....

How I wished to know their stories

Should be a story of them... but mostly we don't know. How touching... I thought of this today. We are, human how great creature that we are able to express and to write our stories... and also their stories too. At the beginning of our walking on the street, we noticed this sleepy cat on this bank. And I took her pictures... Then we went on to walk... Probably we walked for more than one hour, and also we had dinner too, so when we came back again where we started (because of our car), ah, I couldn't believe, this cat was still like that, looking down the bank without leaving it... Because there was a young couple and they wanted to touch and to give something to eat for her, but she didn't leave this bank. How I wanted to know her story... Should be something. How touched me. As if she/he was waiting for someone maybe never would come back again... ah, crazy Nia, ah emotional one.... Ah! How I wished to know their stories....

The next day, sunday, ah! How badly rained and all programs were cancelled. Especially children were so sad because there was a little concert of them at the foothill of the Galata Tower for the Galata Festival. But they played in the studio just for their parents... :) It was raining in the city this weekend. The first bridge of the Bosphorus... traffic was not too bad!Ah, is there love in the air :) There are some crazy people like me.... Under the rain they are going with their open car! Ah, my dear love, what can he do with me:) Because, for me he can't see well while he is driving his car, because of my photography! I wanted to take raindrops' pictures...In this dark and cloudy day how beautifully touches this big red ball!!!! I love these kind of things. :)There is another crazy one, under the rain... The sound check in the garden club finished now and everything has been done and ready for tonight. So we are going for a break to a cafe with my musician friends.In Moda (it is a small but old and historical and one of best places in this city) we are in the oldest garden cafe that you can watch the Marmara Sea and the other side of the city. The view is so beautiful but but the weather changed and covered the gray clouds over the city. And yes, we will be trapped under the trees and big umbrella there :) The musicians are talking about tonight's performance and discussing behind me and I try to take some pictures before the sunset time.Yes, this is the cruise ship that I saw it a few hours ago in the Istanbul Port... now she is leaving the city... :)Lovely touches between trees my eyes caught.Before the sunset time over the Topkapı Palace, Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia pinky clouds... and yes lights on now! It means it would be hard for me to take pictures without tripod!!!!Another cruise ship is leaving the city too... Good Bye, Winds be with you, have a nice journey,... :)And yes, the rain began and it was so bad... We could have stayed there to wait for it stops... but we had to go back to the garden club! We trapped as if under the trees... yes, none of us had an umbrealla. But with a clever idea we left the cafe, :) we took one of these big umbrellas and all musicians walked under the same umbrella! It was an amazing shot for me so I took the risk and I tried to take their pictures... :) everybody was laughing to us... we were crazy, but yes, we went to the Garden Club, a little bit being wet. And the stage was changed because of the rain. Ah, later when the rain stopped it was changed again... ah, it was a very tired night for all of us. BUT at the end they took the place on the stage of the wedding party and it was so beautiful, :) They played great.

After sound check in the garden club for the night performance, we walked down to the street with my musician friends for a cafe... and I noticed this lovely grocer! I stopped for taking pictures :) and I noted to my mind, I have never seen a lovely place like that, I want to come back again here but this time for shopping! Seems so fresh and good but but yes, it is not cheap the fees...:) But it would be worthy if they are really so good. I should tyr once, even it is not near to my home. But yes, this is crazy nia, and loves these kind of things.:)

I'm a sailor...

These photographs from last saturday. We are at the Eminönü Port, for ferryboats and we are waiting for ferry boat in the line of the cars with my musician friends. Because we are going to other side of the Bosphorus (to the Anatolian side where I live) for a concert, there is a performance in a wedding party in a garden club. The weather was so nice before the afternoon, blue skies and clear weather but later it would be so bad, and we will live a very hard moments in the garden club. But nothing will be cancelled, the concert will be so nice.The left side of these photographs is going to the Golden Horn, and the right side is going to the Marmara Sea and also to the Bosphorus. The cross the ships that is seen, are coming from other countries, it is Istanbul Harbour, Karaköy Port, or Karaköy Limanı... These are cruise ships. How nice for me that day, because I always wished to watch some of them while they are leaving the city... Yes, this happened. I watched and took their pictures at the port but later when I went to the Anatolian side by ferry boat and when I was in a garden cafe before the concert, I saw that the biggest one was leaving the city and I watched yes I took her pictures too! I don't know, I mean I can't explain well enough but I love to be sailor... :) It seems to me so exciting. And yes, with one of them, one of beautiful photographer friends will be visiting Istanbul in near soon. Always I remember this and I pray for this. I make my fingers cross :) We are waiting for you both dear Garry with your wife. The Galata Tower. And these old ships that are the image of Istanbul, you may see them in so many pictures... They are going to again Anatolian side... without car, I use this way too :) in here, the Galata Bridge is seen... Ah, this Galata Bridge... how beautiful to watch the fishermen there. I think I posted some of them in the past. :) The point, named Sarayburnu (means Palace Point) because it is down the Topkapı Palace. Yes, in far distance Anatolian side is seen, and right side goes to the Marmara Sea... this side, is the well known point, I mean Sarayburnu, it is so important for the sailors because of the deep streams, it is one of the strongest one in this area.

Cats In Istanbul

1) Do not touch!

This cat was in the bookstore and they put a note for her, written on there: "Do not touch her! She can claw you and she can hurt you and us. Do not take pictures with flash!"

But in any case I asked the owner of the bookstore, and she let me to take her pictures. I tried to be silent and very slow but she woke and looked at me :) I understood that she didn't want me to go on and and I walked but I took one more picture too behind her, she was going on to sleep...

2) Eye Contact! Another cat and another place... The colours hit me but yes, I love cats and there is always cat in my photography!

3) High Society! This is one of the elegant districts in the city, named "Nişantaşı", there are so many cafes and boutiques, it is like a fashion point and the heart of art is in here too! So when I saw these cats, made me smile, they seemed to me so cool! Actually they were together but I couldn't catch them because I was too slow for to take their pictures together. It would be so nice to see them in the same picture .) anyway,

At the Kadıköy Port, I'm waiting for the ship, it is over there... Thd ship (with smoke) at the another port (Haydarpaşa Train Station of the Anatolian side of Istanbul; the other main and important train stain is in the other side, European side and named Sirkeci Train Station)The cormorants under the sun... And we left this side... Colours how impressive in our life... I thought of this. Actually there are in reality no colours. The colours we see indeed depend on the light that enters our eyes from the outside world. But how impressive on us... We all have our colours, our colourful world that we build... It was just the touches of the colours, what were they, I don't know, maybe they were balloon or paper ornaments... But yes, they hit me in this rusted pieces... Pinky Sky At The Bosphorus

These are all taken when we were in the House Cafe, for a dinner last Sunday. There was a clear weather but it was cold to sit outside! I can say all my menu was this view of the Bosphorus during the sunset times in the pinky touches...

Actually the menu as always was so nice! This was Turkish meatball with "Beğendi" (Aubergine with pure milk and browned flour)" it was delicious... The first bridge of the Bosphorus and also the Ortaköy Mosque under the early night blue sky...

We are in Bolu Mount...

The front window of our car, was like a palette of painters :) should be pollens... But unfurtunately the mount tunnel was closed. Should have been an accident, so we had to go to the old road of the mountain. The new road, down there... that's going to the tunnel of the mountain. But it was closed, so we are going around the mountain. But the view is amazing, we can watch all the mountain while the road going down... we are now at Park Show, for a break, and also we need to be cleaned the window! Actually I was happy with this colourful palette :)This is for ladies, toilet! Modern indoor design... And we ate somethings in this Park Show, and also we drunk Susurluk Ayranı (airan, a drink made of yogurt and water, but delicious )

The villages, the houses in the far distance but between green fields and blue skies :)Like a dancing trees... In my culture, if you see a stork that is flying, it means that you would be a traveller this year But if you see a stork landed on the field, it means there is not travel for this year... This is not what I believe but it is very old saying, and always I remember this when I see a stork By the way I saw them in this journey, in both situations, I mean they were flying and they were on the fields....

About photographically it is not good, I know. But this was the only one that I had, and needed a better lens for this distance!

This is one of side roads, probably going to the villages around there, but I couldn't delete this one, I don't know but I loved it, as like a Van Gogh's painting Road dancing...Roads, cars, trucks, connections, travellers... Life goes on in many roads on this earth; I just thought of this! How many, how many, oh my God... Millions of millions people are on the roads, every moment of life... Pyshically and philosophically!!!!

This is the "Gölbaşı" near Ankara, it was not a good because of the weather, but next day I had a chance to take this photograph from the same place again but this time was blue... in blue... And this is a hotel along the lake... Should have a nice view!

From Ankara to the Salt Lake we are on the road again, and there is no time for stopping... So I tried to take all these pictures from the car. I think I am getting learned to do this :) Anyway, the first day of our journey to the Salt Lake, even for both going and coming back to Ankara, the weather wasn't good, there was a strong wind and also there was a hot weather, I saw the temparature 32 degrees... So there was a fog because of this and also there was dust because of the wind too... and also I was trying to take pictures from the car... the window wasn't so good too! But at least there wasn't any reflection, I was being very careful about this. By the way, I took all these pictures in CA mod of my camera (Canon 500D) and I love this creative mod, I just delete flash and sometimes I play with its light too. But it makes everything automatically... I am glad for the results. This road actually is one of the roads to the Mediterranean side... So there are so many trucks on this road, they carry so many things from the cities of Mediterranean side to the Ankara...

It seemed to me an interesting picture, sand, in a small company.

Flocks in the green fields seemed so nicely... But not having a chance to come closer more than this!

Farmers are working on the fields... This area is one of the important source of the cereals of my country. (Barley, wheat, etc.)

Nostalgia

I was a little girl... and I was coming from a little town to this Primary school... Ankara, was always a great city in my country; and also it is the capital city. So when we moved to this city from Anatolian town, I was suprised for so many things. Everything was new for me. My first days in this school was like a nightmare... The teacher wasn't nice too me, once I misunderstood her and I supposed that we should have written with pen on our notebook in the lesson. When she noticed that I was writing with pen (not pencil), she shouted me and she began to tear my notebook's pages... I was crying so much but in silence. There wasn't a notebook at the end when she finished to shout at me... So I had to make a new notebook as she said... At that day when I went to home, I cried all night long and I begged to my Dad for not going back to school. It was funny, I remember, I was watching from my room's window, down the street the students, they were going to the school... I was just watching silently them, yes, the school was so near to our apartment and I could see the school too. Anyway, my Dad went to the school and he should have talked to my teacher, and I am sure he complained about her that was not good what she did. The manager of the school especially asked me to come back again, and the next day, with my parents we went to the school and the manager was there and waiting for me, and he welcomed warmly and he said it was a mistake and my teacher apologized from me. I was a small child, in 8 or 9 years old... But I was so upset and I didn't trust anyone... Luckily we moved again even that year wasn't end yet. So, I lived in three different schools for one class... Began in a small Anatolian town, then in the capital city and then Istanbul. I can say, all my beautiful teachers were in Istanbul. I loved with them reading, writing and learning and yes, painting... My Turkish literature teacher, and my first English language teacher... how much I love them. I am grateful for them,... So this was a nostalgia for me to find my first school... Yes, changed but it was staill standing there...

Old Cars Convoy

In the city the transportation problem seems that was solved. There are so many roads underground (tunnels etc.) and also metro and trains and buses,... Actually Ankara is smaller than Istanbul, but I found the city so complicated with the roads and also I found so crowded too... But the good part is wherever you go, you can find the square of the city, "square Kızılay"... Like all roads reach to Rome.

Down the street, in the far, the city seems in the fog... or in the dust, because there was a windy weather and the sands of all the instructions were flying into the air... But also there was a fog because of the hot weather, yes, it was like a summer days... It was 32 degrees.. Some views from the streets... By the way, I learned that Ankara has some awards about shopping centers and also about airports in the European countries. This is maybe political point but we are still not a member of the European Union but we are; just not on the agreement papers... seems to me like that. Especially when I compare with the other new contributions, I can't understand. Anyway...

While we were going on the road with our car, we saw this old cars convoy on the right side of the road... Should have been a reason, they were going to somewhere,...

Early In The Morning

Early in the morning we were on the road. Time was important for us and we had only two days for this trip, and once again I was so excited. We were going to meet with our son. And the sun rises while we are on the road from Istanbul to Ankara...

On the right side the Izmit Bay, (or the Marmara Sea)... the sun is rising up on the road...

I tried to take all these photographs from the car, but yes, especially the front window of the car was being so dirty while we were going on the road. Because of all flies... They crash to the window. When we stop for gas, they clean it but then it happens same... It wasn't easy to take a nice photograph from the car. But I am getting learned this work I think :)

A few months ago when we passed from all these places, they were all under the snow... Actually, in all my life, all my travel was during the winter days to Ankara, so I haven't seen before this area in another season or in another saying, in another colours It was so nice for me to see the green world, you can guess how excited for me! I always saw this area during the foggy days... And there was an interesting and amazing views under the fog... But this time, the weather was amazing and all details fascinated me. How I love these minarets...

Around the same area (Grand Bazaar) I stopped and watched them for a while. Always fascinates me... Maybe one day I can find the flying carpet too :)

There is a story/anecdote about carpets and I always remember this because I am impressed so much. One day, for his thesis and research, a young man makes a travel to the villages, especially for the carpet weaving... In one of the mountain villages, he noticed that there wasn't any flowers around the village area, much more rocks and stones area but there was a young woman who was weaving a carpet on her weaving loom. She was weaving so beautiful flowers. Then he asked her how did she find these flowers because there wasn't any flowers around the village area... and she said that they were in her heart! She was weaving flower patterns of her heart. (sorry for my langauge I tried to translate but I hope I didn't waste this beautiful story)..... By the way in traditional Turkish carpet weaving there is a meaning and symbol of every each patterns... Carpets are talking as if... They all have their own stories... You don't have only a carpet as if you have their beautiful stories too. Always made me fascinated and impressed.

7 May, 2010 Friday, late afternoon we are meeting in the Kandilli, is a district in the north of the Bosphorus. And in a coastal between Anadoluhisari and Vaniköy. At the hills of Kandilli, the Girls' High School's buildings and also the building Abdul Aziz's sister Sultan Adile's Private Palace, had been built there. Today they are restored but still it is a high school and the other one, a palace for wedding parties, etc. On the other hand, all other old and historical wooden buildings were restored too in the Kandilli. My mother-in-law, she grew up in one of them, and she lived there till to her marriage. So, to be there, especially before Mother's Day, and to watch the Bosphorus from the windows of the old Palace, impressed me so much, as if I watched with her eyes too... I do believe she was with me at her endless place.
So, I was there with my musician friends because of a wedding party in the Adile Sultan Palace. I tried to take their photographs, especially during their performance at that night.

Romantic moments under the spring blossoms at the hill of Kandilli... :) He's sending message to his girl friend.

At the end we are there, Adile Sultan Palace! We all carry our musical instruments and this was one of the moments with the background of this palace, between light and shadows :)The long corridor to the hall...

The Bosphorus from the windows of Adile Sultan Palace,

I was watching the Bosphorus under the night skies... All windows were open and it was a nice weather but suddenly I noticed a smoke, it was like a smoke over the Bosphorus Bridge then moved very fastly with a strong wind, I have never seen something like that, the fog flew very fastly, nothing seemed but very soon left there... It was almost in for a few minutes! Then the Bosphorus and the night skies were clear again! But the weather changed and it was cold then... The next day, when I read the newspapers, I learned that this fastly flying cloud/fog was a reason for a traffic accident, and some people died. It was so strange...

Koza Han (Bursa)

Koza Han (Cocoon/silk market) is in the Bursa. Bursa is one of the greatest cities in Turkey. On 24 April, 2010 we were in Bursa. Koza Han, it was built in 1491 by sultan Beyazit. Before here, they were selling cocoon. And they were producing silk. This traditional job, came from the middle Asia by the famous silk road. Inside of this Koza Han, there is like a hundred rooms where you can buy beautiful silk stuff. But today, they are not selling cocoons anymore...The ambience of this Koza Han, when you are inside drags you into the old days as you are not living in the year of 2000s...

Before the sunset

Before the sunset, on the road to home... This is the first bridge of the Bosphorus and Sunday evening traffic began at the both sides... The red cars always was my favurite :) I wanted to take this car much more, especially with the mascot (Elvis Presley) under the mirror... But I couldn't take :)

(when we talk about city, it is much more the European side for us :) I don't know why but maybe because of the historical parts and also the center of the city,... otherwise this side, Anatolian side is the city too, Istanbul is taking place on both sides..)

Unforgetable photographs for me :) I took them in the ferry boat while we were waiting for the time to go... But yes,.... I slipped and fell down in the boat, and I smashed my knee... But I was lucky, it could have broken too, they are guilty about this, I mean the crew, because where I was walking is actually for all passengers and it shouldn't be wet or oily... No one concerned with me, how made me sad... Still I feel bad... So, yes, we can say, everything was for the sake of these birds... I love them. :)
